NY EXPORT: OPUS JAZZ at the Bloor Hot Docs Cinema!

I’m tremendously pleased to announce that Shorts That Are Not Pants will be bringing the 2010 film NY EXPORT: OPUS JAZZ to the Bloor Hot Docs Cinema on Thursday October 10th at 9:00pm for ONE screening ONLY! If you were at our last screening in July, you’ve seen the trailer. Everyone else, feast your eyes below:

NY Export: Opus Jazz was created in 1958 by Jerome Robbins as a “ballet in sneakers” and makes a great companion piece to the more famous Robbins’ choreography in the 1961 film West Side Story.

Much more information to come, including a link to buy tickets ahead of time. I am incredibly excited to bring this to the big screen, and hope you’ll come and bring all of your friends. For now, we have set up a Facebook event page. If you are planning to come (and why wouldn’t you?!), please let us know over there.

UPDATE (August 30): We have changed the start time of the screening to 9:00pm from our original time of 6:45pm. Please make a note of this!

  1. More good news! National Ballet of Canada Artist-in-Residence Rex Harrington will introduce the screening and talk a little bit about the choreography of Jerome Robbins.
