Help Wanted, Apply Within

Help Wanted

As we prepare for our third year of screenings, I’m realizing that in order to grow and improve, we need help! Earlier this year, we added Titania Plant to our programming team. We held a planning session recently and decided we should add a few more people to our crew. Although these positions have specific titles, we’re still small and scrappy enough as an organization that you should be prepared to do lots of other stuff, too. Though none of these positions (including my own) is paid, I hope that you’ll get lots of good experience (personal as well as professional) out of working with us. Here are the two people we’re looking for:

Marketing Intern

Ideally, you’re someone with an actual marketing degree, background, and/or experience. Here are some things we’re looking for:

  • ability to formulate and execute a marketing strategy, including a written marketing plan.
  • comfort and expertise with all forms of social media.
  • someone with an established online network (lots of Twitter followers and Facebook friends)
  • a tendency to think “out of the box” and try crazy things, especially crazy things that are cheap or free!

Events Intern

Our ideal candidate here is someone with experience organizing and carrying out the logistical details for events of all kinds. Here are more details:

  • ability to plan and keep track of all the details of putting on an event.
  • good organizational, budgeting and administrative skills.
  • an ability to delegate tasks and in some cases recruit volunteers.
  • strong ability to “think on your feet” and improvise solutions.
  • someone with contacts in the hospitality industry (bars, restaurants, event spaces) *
  • someone with a driver’s licence and access to a vehicle*

* – not a requirement, but nice to have

A love of short films is not a requirement, but is something we hope to cultivate! For both positions, we’d expect a 12 month commitment, but we promise not to work you too hard!
